At last month’s annual Medical Library Association’s (MLA) meeting, Adele Dobry of UCLA’s Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, presented this poster:
The poster’s geared toward medical information professionals, who are skilled in database research, and poised to assist in scientists with animal-research compliance. At National Jewish Health, we’ve enjoyed a successful relationship with the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC), conducting literature reviews for all new and modified protocols. As Adele’s poster displays, literature searches screen for pertinent articles that would reduce painful procedures, suggest a non-animal experimental model, and verify the novelty (hence, necessity) of a given experiment.
